V-Log L vs. MY PHOTO STYLE — Which to Use

V-Log L, MY PHOTO STYLE and Real-Time LUTs on Lumix S9 explained. When LookCraft LUTs in the viewfinder make sense and when to shoot RAW.

V-Log L in brief

V-Log L is Panasonic’s flat log profile for maximum dynamic range — ideal for color grading in DaVinci or Lightroom. Straight out of camera, V-Log L looks gray and low-contrast. LookCraft Real-Time LUTs are built for exactly this: they add contrast, color and mood in the viewfinder without opening a computer first.

MY PHOTO STYLE with Real-Time LUT

From Lumix S9 onward you can load .cube LUTs as a real-time look. The LUT is applied to the live image — you see your chosen image look while shooting. JPEG/HEIF are saved with the look baked in. That saves time on travel, street and client work when you need finished colors.

Which mode when?

MY PHOTO STYLE + LUT: travel, street, fast delivery, social — when the look is decided upfront. V-Log L without LUT (or only a light profile): maximum flexibility, mixed lighting, tricky skin tones, video grading later. Many shooters use both: one prepared look for daylight and another for night.

Lookcraft LUTs and input profiles

The current Lookcraft packs use Standard / Rec.709. They are creative image looks, not direct technical V-Log conversions. Match the input profile to the product page and included instructions. Compare current packs before choosing a look for daylight, portraits or night.
