Core setup in 60 seconds
Picture profile: V-Log L. Picture style: MY PHOTO STYLE with imported LUT. File format: JPEG (or HEIF) + RAW. White balance: AWB or Kelvin by scene. ISO: as low as practical; at night raise ISO before risking blur.
- V-Log L = base for LookCraft LUTs
- C1 / C2 / C3 = three finished looks via Q
- JPEG+RAW = look now, flexibility later
- Stabilization on; electronic shutter only when needed
Assign MY PHOTO STYLE slots wisely
The S9’s strength is switching speed. I lock three looks: C1 Portrait Skin for sun and skin, C2 Analog Europe for grey reportage, C3 München Neon for night.
No deep menu diving — Q button, pick slot, keep shooting.
Expose with the LUT in the viewfinder
With a LUT you see contrast and color live — expose for the EVF image, not flat V-Log grey. Zebras and histogram help with skin and neon signs.
In hard highlights: underexpose slightly and recover shadows in RAW rather than overdriving the LUT. Portrait Skin forgives more than the neon look.
ISO, lens and everyday use
Daytime: base ISO, aperture for depth of field, shutter for motion. Evening: raise ISO before freelancing 1/15 s — neon LUTs need sharp lights.
What I deliberately skip
No aggressive in-camera sharpening, no double grading on top. The LUT is the look — extra style filters quickly make skin and neon restless.
If you need maximum headroom: save JPEG with the LUT and RAW in parallel. The color is already in the viewfinder, and the RAW file stays available later.

FAQ
Which ISO is OK with Real-Time LUTs on the S9?
As low as practical. At night raise ISO rather than risk blur — neon highlights need sharpness.
Should I save only JPEG with LUT?
For social and fast delivery often yes. For prints, mixed light or client work use JPEG+RAW.
Do I need manual exposure?
Not necessarily. Many S9 shooters use aperture priority and correct based on the LUT image in the viewfinder.
