Why skin is the hardest LUT test
A LUT can forgive architecture and neon. Skin cannot. Too much magenta looks sick, too much orange looks like fake tan, too much contrast eats cheeks and under-eyes.
That is why LookCraft has dedicated skin looks: Rec.709 .cube, 33³, for MY PHOTO STYLE. You see the tone live in the viewfinder — JPEG and HEIF save the same look.
Daylight: Skin-Natural-Daylight
My default in sun and open sky. The LUT keeps midtones calm, rolls off highlights and does not shove skin into carrot orange.
Skin-Natural-Daylight ships in the Portrait Skin Pack and the Lumix S9 Starter Pack. One slot covers parks, cafés, family photos and travel portraits.
Window light and interiors: Skin-Warm-Window
Mixed window-plus-lamp light is the most common portrait trap. Skin-Warm-Window takes the warm side light without turning the other cheek grey-green.
MY PHOTO STYLE strength: closer to 35–50%. Full 100% often feels too sweet in mixed light.
Soft vs golden hour vs night
Skin-Soft-Portrait is the quietest variant — little snap, soft mids, good when you do not want makeup and pores emphasized.
Skin-Golden-Hour rides late sun: warmer highlights, skin stays rose-beige instead of amber. Skin-City-Night is for shop windows and street lamps, not studio flash.
A practical slot plan
Three MY PHOTO STYLE slots cover almost every portrait shoot. Switch in the viewfinder before you fire — not later in software.
- C1: Skin-Natural-Daylight — sun, travel, everyday
- C2: Skin-Warm-Window — interiors, café, window
- C3: Skin-Golden-Hour or Skin-City-Night — depending on the job
V-Log or standard profile?
LookCraft cubes are Rec.709/Standard. On V-Log apply Panasonic Color Space Transform first, or the LUT sits on the wrong signal.
For portraits with a finished JPEG, MY PHOTO STYLE plus Real-Time LUT is enough. Extra V-Log only if you want the same take free to grade later.

FAQ
Which LUT should I start with for Lumix portraits?
Skin-Natural-Daylight. It is the most forgiving in daylight and ships in the Portrait Skin Pack and the Starter Pack.
Why does skin go orange with some LUTs?
Too much LUT strength, or a travel/vintage LUT on skin. Lower the strength or switch to a skin LUT instead of Europe-Golden-70.
Does this work the same on S5II and GH7?
Yes. Same .cube files, same MY PHOTO STYLE install.
